Ward Watch — The Complete Guide

The Asylum Is Live.

Ward Watch is a live multiplier game running on top of every Meme Asylum voting cycle. It is not a separate game you log into. It is not something you opt into. It runs whether you play or not — and if the riot succeeds, the multipliers flip whether you showed up or not.

Every wallet in the cycle is a dot on the floor plan. Every St. Jude's NFT you hold is a zap you can play. The question is not whether to be involved. The question is which side you are on.

The Floor Plan

Ward Watch renders as a live 2D architectural floor plan of St. Jude's Psychiatric Institute — styled as an overhead CCTV security camera feed. REC indicator. CAM label. Timestamp. The institutional aesthetic of a building that watches everything.

Every wallet that has burned $ECT in the current cycle appears as a moving dot on the floor. Wards map to the memes leading the vote. The more votes a meme has, the more wallets are standing in its ward. Crowd density is the vote made visible.

Eight wards hold the eight leading nominations. Everything below the cut sits in the Admissions Queue — still in the race, but with nowhere to stand.

Service rooms — the Warden's Office, Solitary, ECT Suite, Day Room, Morgue, Reception, Pharmacy and Admin Corridor — appear on the plan as lore. They carry no gameplay bonus.

You do not choose your room. Your dot is placed automatically when you connect.

Your Side — Lunatics vs Defenders

The moment voting opens, every wallet in the cycle is sorted by burn weight and assigned a side.

Bottom 50% — Q1 and Q2 — The Lunatics. The rioters. The underdogs. The ones with everything to gain. They build Riot Power.

Top 50% — Q3 and Q4 — The Defenders. The whales. The establishment. The ones with everything to protect. They build Barricade Health.

Your side is determined by your burn. You cannot change it mid-cycle. You can sit out the game entirely — but you cannot sit out its consequences. If the riot lands, the multipliers flip for everyone in the cycle regardless of whether they played a single card.

The Meter — Riot Power vs Barricade Health

The Ward Watch meter shows one thing: the ratio of Riot Power to Barricade Health.

Both pools only ever grow. A card play adds Card Power to one pool — nothing is destroyed, nothing is taken from the other side. The meter falls for a side when the other side out-pushes them, not because anything was removed. This is a race, not a fight.

Under 50% — Barricade holds. The cycle resolves normally. Everyone is paid on their own quartile base.

50% or above — Riot Power has reached Barricade Health. Mutiny lands. The console reads BREACH IN PROGRESS. Multipliers flip.

75% or above — Landslide. The console escalates to FACILITY OVERRUN. The payout is identical to 50% — this is display only, not a bonus tier. A tie goes to the riot.

Card Power

Every card played contributes between 1 and 10 points to the meter. The formula is two numbers added together. Nothing else.

Card Power = Tier (1 to 5) + Featured Trait stars (0 to 5)

T1 cards contribute 1 point with no stars, up to 6 points with 5 stars.

T2 cards contribute 2 points with no stars, up to 7 points with 5 stars.

T3 cards contribute 3 points with no stars, up to 8 points with 5 stars.

T4 cards contribute 4 points with no stars, up to 9 points with 5 stars.

T5 cards contribute 5 points with no stars, up to 10 points with 5 stars.

No multipliers. No exponential scaling. No aura bonus. No room modifier. Tier plus stars.

Why flat? The previous system ran 100 to 3,200 — a single T5 was worth thirty-two T1s and no number of small holders could answer one whale. On a 1-to-10 scale, ten T1s out-push one maxed T5. Turnout beats inventory. That is the point of a riot.

The Featured Trait

Two values are drawn randomly when each cycle opens: the Prime Character and the Featured Trait.

The Featured Trait is one of the seven card stats — Charisma, Insanity, Stealth, Will Power, Strength, Intelligence or Corruption. It does two things.

First, it determines Card Power. The stars your card has in the Featured Trait are the bonus added to your tier base. A card with 5 stars in the Featured Trait hits maximum power for its tier.

Second, it determines jackpot eligibility. See The Jackpot section below.

Check the Featured Trait when the cycle opens. Cards that score high in it are your strongest plays this phase.

Alignment — Which Pool Your Card Feeds

Every character has an alignment that determines where their Card Power lands — regardless of who is holding the card.

Pro-Rioter characters — McAfee, Ted, Luigi, Bundy — always feed Riot Power, whoever holds them.

Pro-Whale characters — Trump, Bateman, Daisy — always feed Barricade Health, whoever holds them.

Neutral characters — The Shrink and The Chaplain — follow the holder's side. The only two cards that can never work against you.

A card can push the wrong way. A Q4 defender playing a McAfee card is feeding the riot they are trying to hold back. This is the sharpest decision in the game — and it collides directly with the Streak bonus, which rewards playing more cards regardless of alignment. A defender holding four Pro-Rioter cards must choose: play them for the streak bonus and feed the riot, or sit on them and sacrifice the streak. There is no right answer. That tension is the game.

Playing a Card

One card plays once per cycle. Re-burning $ECT buys more votes — never more plays.

Burn $ECT in the cycle. This sets your quartile, your side and your timing bonus.

Open Ward Watch. The console shows your side and what your plays contribute.

Pick a card from your rail. Its Card Power is shown before you commit.

Check the card is not already spent — a used card carries a cooldown badge for the rest of the cycle.

Press the switch and sign with your wallet. Nothing is submitted on your behalf without a signature.

Watch the meter move. Streak and Prime Match bonuses apply the moment the play lands.

No wallet without a burn is in the cycle. The console reads NOT IN CYCLE and the switch stays locked. Spectators can watch the floor — they cannot move the meter.

What You Earn — The Multiplier

The mint multiplier is four rows added together. Never multiplied — always added.

Final multiplier = Quartile base + Timing + Streak + Prime Match

Quartile Base

Fixed for the cycle unless the flip lands.

Q1 — Lunatic side — base 2.10×

Q2 — Lunatic side — base 2.25×

Q3 — Defender side — base 3.00×

Q4 — Defender side — base 4.00×

Timing Bonus

Set by the day you burned — not changeable after burning.

Day 1 — +0.60×

Day 2 — +0.90×

Day 3 — +1.20×

Day 4 — +1.50× (peak)

Day 5 — +1.35×

Day 6 — +1.05×

Day 7 — +0.75×

The curve is lopsided deliberately. It climbs to Day 4 then falls away more gently than it rose. Day 5 beats Day 3. Day 7 beats Day 1. Arriving a little late costs you less than arriving equally early.

Streak Bonus

Earned by playing different cards. Not by holding. Not by tier.

1 to 3 different NFTs played this cycle — +0.10×

4 to 5 different NFTs — +0.25×

6 different NFTs — +0.40×

7 different NFTs, one per day — +0.60×

Seven different cards across seven days earns the maximum streak. Seven T1s earn the same +0.60× as seven T5s. This is the one row that rewards breadth over power.

Prime Match

If any card you played this cycle is the drawn Prime Character — flat +0.40× bonus. Any tier. However many Prime cards you hold — the bonus pays once. A second Prime card adds nothing.

The Jackpot

A separate post-game bonus reported alongside the multiplier — not multiplied into it. It pays flat. Five conditions, all required simultaneously.

You played the card. Holding it earns nothing.

Tier 5 only. A T4 never qualifies regardless of stars.

The card's character is the active Prime this cycle.

The cycle's Featured Trait is that character's signature trait.

The card is 5 stars in that trait.

Jackpot values by character:

McAfee — Pro-Rioter — Signature: Intelligence — Jackpot: 7.0×

Ted — Pro-Rioter — Signature: Stealth — Jackpot: 5.0×

Luigi — Pro-Rioter — Signature: Strength — Jackpot: 4.5×

Bundy — Pro-Rioter — Signature: Charisma — Jackpot: 4.0×

Bateman — Pro-Whale — Signature: Will Power — Jackpot: 3.0×

Daisy — Pro-Whale — Signature: Stealth — Jackpot: 2.5×

The Shrink — Neutral — Signature: Intelligence — Jackpot: 2.0×

Trump — Pro-Whale — Signature: Corruption — Jackpot: 1.5×

The Chaplain — Neutral — Signature: Insanity — Jackpot: 1.5×

The floor is 1.5×. At 1.0× the rarest conditions in the game could align and pay nothing — which made qualifying worthless at the bottom of the ladder.

The rarity lives entirely in qualifying. The dual roll must pair a Prime with his own signature trait — roughly 1 cycle in 63. You must hold and play that character's T5 at 5 stars in the matching trait when it happens.

The Shrink and The Chaplain sit at the bottom of the jackpot ladder. Whether the flexibility of never feeding the wrong pool every cycle is worth a jackpot that lands 1 cycle in 63 is a question only live data will answer.

The Flip — What Happens When Mutiny Lands

If Riot Power reaches Barricade Health before voting closes, the quartile bases swap for the minting phase.

Q1 goes from 2.10× to 4.00×

Q2 goes from 2.25× to 3.00×

Q3 goes from 3.00× to 2.25×

Q4 goes from 4.00× to 2.10×

Timing, Streak and Prime Match are unaffected by the flip. Only the quartile base swaps.

Worked example — Q1 Lunatic, burned Day 5:

Without the flip: 2.10 + 1.35 = 3.45×

With four cards played: add 0.25 → 3.70×

One card matched the Prime: add 0.40 → 4.10×

If the mutiny lands: base flips from 2.10 to 4.00 — a further 1.90 added → 6.00×

Ceiling reference:

Best from burn alone: 5.50× — Q4 on Day 4

Worst from burn alone: 2.70× — Q1 on Day 1

Play adds maximum 1.00× — full streak plus Prime Match

True best case before jackpot: 6.50×

The Lunatics Have Taken Over

At the start of every voting phase, a Prime Character is randomly selected and announced alongside the Featured Trait. Ward Watch displays a prominent alert: THE LUNATICS HAVE TAKEN OVER.

The Prime Character modifies the conditions of the cycle they govern. Each character brings something different.

Bundy — Charm Tax. Q3 and Q4 wallets not holding a T4 or T5 card take an additional penalty.

Ted — Isolation Bonus. Wallets that burned less than the cycle average get a +0.5× bonus.

Trump — Pay to Play. Q3 and Q4 wallets can burn additional ECT to reduce their flip penalty.

McAfee — Chaos. All Card Power calculations include a random variance element.

The Shrink — Clinical Precision. The flip curve steepens. Q4 hit harder.

The Chaplain — Absolution. The streak bonus threshold drops by one card this cycle.

Bateman — Glass Cannon. Pro-Rioter cards hit 1.5× harder but so do Pro-Whale cards.

Daisy — Network. Card alignment is hidden from public view until the meter locks.

Luigi — Nuclear. No modifier. No exceptions. Maximum inversion if the riot lands.

Luigi as Prime is the most feared cycle. There is no softening mechanism. If the riot lands under Luigi, the swap is clean and absolute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to play cards to earn the multiplier?

No. Your quartile base and timing bonus are set by your burn alone. Cards earn you Streak and Prime Match on top of that. If you play nothing you still earn — you just earn less.

What happens if I burn late?

Your timing bonus is lower. Day 7 earns +0.75× vs Day 4 which earns +1.50×. Burning late still earns — it just costs you on the timing row.

Can I play the same card twice?

No. One card plays once per cycle. A spent card shows a cooldown badge and cannot be replayed until the next cycle opens.

Does the flip affect my timing and streak bonuses?

No. Only the quartile base swaps. Timing, Streak and Prime Match are calculated on your own numbers regardless of the flip outcome.

What if I hold a Pro-Rioter card but I am in Q3 or Q4?

Playing it feeds the riot you are trying to hold back. The card's alignment beats the holder. Think carefully before playing it — the Streak bonus rewards playing cards regardless of where they go.

Can I watch without being in the cycle?

Yes. Spectators can observe the floor plan and the meter. They cannot play cards or affect the outcome.

What is the Prime Character?

One of the nine St. Jude's characters drawn randomly when the cycle opens. They modify the conditions of the cycle. Luigi as Prime is the nuclear option.

What is the Featured Trait?

One of the seven card stats drawn randomly each cycle alongside the Prime. It determines your Card Power bonus and jackpot eligibility. Check it when voting opens.

How rare is the jackpot?

The Prime and the Featured Trait must align — roughly 1 cycle in 63. You must hold and play that character's T5 at 5 stars in the matching trait. Rare by design.
