State of the Asylum — May 2026

It's been a while since we put pen to paper. Not because nothing's been happening — the opposite. We've been heads down building, and it's time to open the ward doors and show you what's inside.

This post covers where we are, what's live, what's close, and what's coming. If you're a holder, a voter, or someone watching from the outside trying to figure out whether this project is real — this is for you.

The Numbers Don't Lie

Let's start with the hard data.

2.75 billion ECT have been burned across all cycles. That's not staked. Not locked. Not sitting in a wallet somewhere waiting to be unlocked. Burned. Gone. Permanently removed from the circulating supply.

In dollar terms, that's $5.34 million worth of ECT that will never re-enter the market.

Every single cycle that runs removes more. Every vote cast is a permanent reduction in supply. The deflationary pressure isn't theoretical — it's been compounding since day one and it accelerates with every new cycle.

If you've been here since the beginning, you already know this. If you're new, understand that this is the foundation everything else is built on.

Patient Tokens — Community-Chosen, Permanently Locked

Three patient tokens have been launched through community vote:

$DIPRO was Cycle 1. The proof of concept. It demonstrated that burn-to-vote governance works on-chain, that liquidity can be permanently locked at launch, and that community ownership through multiplied minting is not just a concept — it's executable.

$GOY and $TRUMPONNEN followed. Each one expanded the voter base, deepened engagement, and most importantly — burned more ECT in the process.

Every patient token launched through Meme Asylum has its liquidity permanently locked. The LP tokens are burned on deployment. No one can pull the rug because the mechanism to do so doesn't exist. Not the team. Not a developer. Not anyone.

This is the part of the project we're most proud of. In a space where trust is the scarcest resource, we built a system where trust isn't required — the architecture handles it.

The NFTs Are Coming

We've been quiet about the NFTs publicly because we wanted to get them right. Now we're ready to talk about them.

St. Jude's Psychiatric Institute is a dark fantasy trading card collection featuring 10 characters — six patients and four staff members. Each one is based on a real-world archetype, rendered in a semi-realistic institutional horror style.

These are not profile pictures you stick on your social media and forget about. Every character has:

  • 8 stat attributes — Charisma, Strength, Will Power, Morality, Cunning, Wisdom, Resilience, and Ambition
  • Unique abilities that interact directly with Meme Asylum's on-chain mechanics
  • 5 tiers (T1 through T5) with escalating rarity and power
  • A 1/1 Electroconvulsive variant at the top of every character's tier ladder

The characters include The Charmer, The Manifesto, The Dictator, The Fugitive, The Yuppie, The Vigilante, The Doctor, The Nurse, The Gatekeeper, and The Chaplain. Each has their own narrative arc, backstory, and role within St. Jude's.

More importantly — these NFTs are Multiplier Manipulators. They don't just sit in your wallet looking nice. They affect how you interact with the platform. Your NFT is your only way out.

Collect. Play. Escape. If you can.

The art is in production now. When we're ready to show the full collection, you'll understand why we took our time.

The Game Terminal

Two games are built and preparing to deploy at games.memeasylum.com.

Ward 25 is a strategic card battle game. You play with the NFT characters and their stat profiles. Eight stats per character, unique abilities, and strategic depth that rewards knowledge of the roster. Build your hand, exploit weaknesses, dominate the ward.

Sedation 14 is something we're particularly proud of — a completely original poker variant designed from scratch for the asylum universe. It's not Texas Hold'em with a skin. It has its own hand ranking system:

  1. Full Psychosis
  2. Acute Episode
  3. Split Personality
  4. Ward Sweep
  5. Group Therapy
  6. Dual Diagnosis
  7. Recurring Episode
  8. The Ladder
  9. Lucid Moment

Every hand name, every mechanic, every interaction is built around the Meme Asylum world. NFT holders will have exclusive in-game advantages tied to their characters.

A third game is planned for a later phase. We're not announcing details yet, but it's on the roadmap and it will expand the Game Terminal further.

What's Coming Next

Here's what you should be watching for.

NFT Collection Launch — The St. Jude's collection drops with 10 characters across 5 tiers plus 1/1 variants. Open edition mint with weighted probability (T1 at 40% down to T5 at 3.6%, with the 1/1 Electroconvulsive variants separate). Early holders get first-mover advantage in the gaming ecosystem.

Game Terminal Goes Live — Ward 25 and Sedation 14 launch at games.memeasylum.com. This isn't a roadmap promise for 2027. The games are built. They're deploying.

Multi-Chain Expansion — This is Phase 3. The same burn-to-vote governance model expanding to Polygon, Arbitrum, and Solana. ECT becomes the universal governance token across all chains. Every new chain is a new voter base, a new set of cycles, and a new source of burn pressure on ECT supply. The network effect compounds from here.

BASE Ecosystem Grant — We're applying to the Coinbase/BASE ecosystem grant program. Meme Asylum is built on BASE. We're one of the most active DeFi applications on the chain. The grant would accelerate development and help us scale infrastructure for multi-chain deployment.

DAO Governance — Phase 4 on the roadmap. Full decentralisation of platform governance. Community-controlled treasury. On-chain proposals. The community already decides which tokens launch — eventually, they'll decide everything else too.

Why This Matters

We built Meme Asylum because the memecoin launchpad model was broken. Platforms were profiting from failure. Creators could rug with no consequences. Communities had no voice and no protection.

We fixed that.

Burn-to-vote means every voter has skin in the game. Permanently locked liquidity means rug pulls are architecturally impossible. 28-day cycles mean there's rhythm and structure instead of chaos. The deflationary loop means the economics get better for holders over time, not worse.

2.75 billion ECT burned. $5.34 million permanently removed. Three patient tokens launched with zero rug risk. NFTs in production. Games built. Multi-chain expansion on deck.

The asylum is running exactly as designed. The inmates are, in fact, running the institution.

And we're just getting started.
